While the CV PoWeR! program does not add additional cost to the parks and recreation department, the program certainly depends on hourly staff and facility hours that are poised to be cut deeply. In early December I went to the Chula Vista Council Meeting to present my concerns about the impact of the cuts to seniors and low-income families. I also wrote a brief impact review looking at specific budget items in the hopes of limiting the impact (see below). Unfortunately, the fiscal crisis lead to cuts accross the board including the closure of our local Norman Park Center up to 30 hours per week... I know the parks and rec. folks are working hard to keep these afloat.. Stay tuned for more!
